Role Overview:

Work collaboratively with the teaching staff of the Prep & Pre-prep School to support high-quality teaching and learning. Help create a safe, engaging and stimulating environment that promotes pupils’ academic, social and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils’ learning in both group and individual settings, following the direct guidance of the class or specialist teacher, and upholding high expectations of teaching and learning.

  • Promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy, helping pupils develop confidence, skills, good judgement and independence.

  • Assist in organising the learning environment and preparing resources, ensuring sports equipment is well maintained and readily available to maximise teaching and learning opportunities.

  • Maintain a safe and respectful environment by supervising pupils, engaging with them positively, and mediating conflicts when necessary, ensuring their physical and emotional safety at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with class and specialist teachers/coaches, both verbally and in writing, to ensure consistency throughout the school day.

  • Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, enabling full participation in activities.

  • Encourage inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, helping each child to feel valued and successful in their learning.

  • Model the school’s professional standards, including appropriate uniform, punctuality, attendance and conduct with all members of the school community.

  • Support the coach in improving pupils’ performance and ensuring their health and safety, including responding to any medical issues that may arise.

  • Engage in professional development opportunities offered by St Paul’s, attending staff meetings, INSET and training sessions to continuously develop knowledge, skills and best practice.

Job requirements

  • High School Diploma. 

  • Fluent English.

  • Diploma in Physical Education or current enrolment in a PE course (desirable).

  • Basic technology skills, with an interest in education and sports.

  • Strong communication skills, ability to build positive relationships with staff and pupils, proactive, flexible, resilient, collaborative, team-oriented, and committed to continuous professional development.
