Job description
General
We are seeking a passionate, talented, experienced and well-qualified practitioner to teach across the Senior School age range (11 to 19 years old). Ideal candidates will be able to teach Mathematics and either Economics or Business Management.
Mathematics is a strong and dynamic department at the school, offering both IGCSE and IB. Pupils routinely achieve excellent results in public examinations. Experience with the IB is preferred, though not essential for this role.

The Mathematics Department
In Forms 1 to 2 (English National Curriculum Years 7 to 8), pupils follow an enhanced version of the English National Curriculum. Investigative activities are included throughout the year and contribute to pupils’ final marks.
Pupils in Form 3 (Year 9), Forms 4 and 5 (Years 10 and 11) are prepared for the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics examination (without coursework). This approach allows the department to challenge the most able pupils, support those who require it, and provide a varied and engaging learning experience.
In the Sixth Form, we offer both IB Diploma Mathematics courses: Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretations, at both Higher and Standard Level.
The Role
The role of the teacher at St. Paul’s is to promote, at all times and in every possible way, pupils’ intellectual and social development, including the development of independent learning skills.
The position will involve:
Planning and delivering lessons and learning activities appropriate to a range of learning styles and pupil abilities
Encouraging pupils’ curiosity and sense of wonder about the world
Ensuring a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment
Providing ethical guidance and pastoral support
Collaborating with colleagues by attending meetings, covering lessons and participating in duties
Reporting on pupil progress, both orally and in writing, as required

Job requirements
A good honours degree, with excellent teaching skills, subject knowledge and a passion for education
A PGCE or equivalent professional teaching qualification
Experience working with pupils aged 11 to 19
Experience teaching the full range of secondary Mathematics
Creativity and a child-centred approach
Fluency in English (native level or advanced proficiency)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
Strong communication skills
The ability to form positive professional relationships with staff, pupils and parents
A proactive, flexible and resilient approach
A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
A caring attitude and a genuine enjoyment of working with young people
