Job description

St Paul’s School is seeking a talented and dedicated freelance Violin and Cello Teacher to deliver high-quality individual instrumental lessons to pupils across both the Junior and Senior Schools. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant and diverse music department, supporting pupils in their musical development and performance opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities: 

·       Provide individual violin and/or cello lessons to pupils from Junior and Senior School. 

·       Prepare students for London College of Music (LCM) examinations. 

·       Support and prepare students for school concerts, recitals, and other performances. 

·       Arrange lesson schedules and collect payments directly from parents. 

·       Maintain clear and professional communication with parents and school staff. 

·       Follow all relevant school policies, including safeguarding and wellbeing protocols. 

·       Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance. 

Desirable Skills: 

·       Ability to rehearse and conduct an orchestra or small ensemble. 

·       Communication skills in English. 

·       Passion for music education and student development. 

Exact timetable of hours needed to be confirmed. This is a contractor position (prestação de serviço) and is therefore only available to non-staff members to St. Paul's School. Please ensure entire application is completed in English. 

Job requirements

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • A degree or higher-level qualification in Music or in violin/cello performance. 

  • Proven experience teaching pupils of diverse age ranges in a school setting. 

  • Familiarity with music exam boards, particularly LCM. 

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. 

Additional Information: 

  • This is a freelance position; the teacher will be responsible for managing their own schedule and invoicing. 

  • Lessons will take place on-site at St Paul’s School. 

  • The teacher must comply with all school policies and procedures, including those related to child protection and wellbeing.
